Eastham Forge has a state of the art Heat Treating Facility that is integral to our forging plant. Generally, this allows us to better control the heat treatment process and provide forgings that meet the strict requirements of our customers in a timely manner.
Eastham Forge Inc. can provide water and polymer quench media, using 56,000 gallon quench tanks. Each tank has four 30” diameter draft tubes with 50 HP motor driven agitators. The water tank uses a 150 ton chiller to improve quenching and minimize turnaround time. The polymer tank has evaporative cooling as well as a boiler that allow us to keep the polymer at the recommended operating temperature.
How We Utilize Our Heat Treating Facility
Furnaces are computer controlled and monitored. Furnaces are certified twice annually to meet or exceed the requirements of API 6A:2010 (ISO 10423) 20th Edition – Annex M and API 16A (ISO 13533:2001) 4th Edition – Annex A. All furnace instruments are calibrated quarterly.
Finally, furnaces are loaded and unloaded by means of a computer controlled manipulator system that transfers from furnace to complete submergence in under 90 seconds.
Eastham offers in house heat treatment cycles:
- Normalize
- Austenitize (quench in air, water or polymer)
- Temper
- Age Harden
- Anneal
- Solution Anneal
